Solar panel Data Monitor Project

When it comes to solar the performance of the panels is key to a happy time, this project looks at Live panel data which will inform you of a problem, give you data on output from the panel so that you can see if there is a fault, issue or a need for tinkering.

The wifi enabled smart device connects to your local network and sends MQQT data allowing you to visualize the live reports from each of your solar panels. Each will also have web data, meaning that you can log in or converge the data from all the devices to one.

If you would like to build this project yourself, Project kits are available from the shop. if you want the device but cannot build your own, you can also order this from the shop, take care to order the right one.

Step 1.
You will need access to your solar panels, as we will be making a connection to the panels connectors.
if you can, then you should order the kit from the shop in order to put this together.

Step 2.
Time to heat your soldering iron, and down load the installation/build guild.
Within the kit you will see the “main unit”, the “power” and the “reader”
There is a Diode and capacitor and some wires and a fuse.

Step 3.
Fix the MC4 and wire spurs to the box.
Connect the diode to the positive ( as shown in the diagram)
Solder the negative in to the negative out of the “reader” on the big plates, ensure they are covered.
Follow the instructions for wiring to the main unit.

Step 4.
wire the “power” correctly to the live input of the box from the other side of the diode, with the fuse and the negative to the negative ( you can use the reader contact for negative) Connect the main unit to the power following the diagram, and install the capacitor.

Step 5.
Follow instructions to install the software.

Step 6.
Fit the hardware into the box.

Step 7. Turn off your solar panel. and disconnect the cables, insert the cables into the SPD.

Step 8. Scan the network on a phone or other wifi device and log in. enter your local details and press save

Step 9. Log into the devices IP for live web data or go to your MQQT device to collect the pushed data.
