You can expand the system and functions as well as automation, it is fairly easy to install addons and to create the dashboard that you want. you can plug into a monitor or TV with the computer behind the screen to make a cool looking display. it can be custom or run one of the templates. it is a bit of a learning curve, but there is a very large support community.
