Our upgrading from Fit article as well as are home battery storage posts are going crazy this week, and that can only mean one thing.
Fit ( feed in tariff) is a export payment which has been replaced by SEG. Home battery storage, is a battery use to store power for use in the home. But as time has changed people are looking to upgrade their solar installations ready for 2025.
Our article on upgrading Fit systems covers most of the concerns about keeping the export payments. These apply more to those with the older fit payments which is much higher than later installations.
It may have something to do with the 50% payments which means you get a lot less than you should or could from your current provider. And SEG is not really that good as you may possibly only have £0.04kWh payment.
If you do not have a battery, then its likely that you are buying power and not really saving money.
At RenewSolar, we are about making solar work for you.
Adding home battery storage.
Older installations of solar will have a grid tied inverter, which you cannot add a battery to that inverter. You can do a “retro fit” which is an inverter with a battery charger that is AC rather than solar and AC (hybrid) Our listed retro fit has dual mppt so you can add solar for charging.
This would be an additional inverter and you can leave your FIT registered inverter in place and untouched. However you will need to apply first as it is likely that you will need to use the G99 route ( application before installation).
You could rip out your fit/SEG system and start over. it would be up to you if you wanted to change the solar panels, but depending on age and power of your panels, the matter may be just cost. Solar panels are cheap these days, but don’t forget to factor the cost of installing them of you do upgrade your solar panels.
This months popular post has been about panels angles. This tends to be seasonal as the power out put drops and people try to make the most from their solar installation.
Running high much of the time has been the article for Standards for solar installations. it would seem that maybe would be fitters and those qualify for solar installations are using the information? who knows but it is very popular.
The most popular product has been the 15kWh Battery We had price matched Fogstars when they had their sale as our suppliers did a price drop, while Fogstar has now returned to there normal price, we have managed to keep our price lower by £855. Not that we would gloat about that!
If you feel that is a bit unfair of us to gloat, then please be aware that we have challenged the market prices of batteries openly, which in turn caused a drop in price. That was reflected across the industry in “pricing wars”. Without that occurring you would be paying considerably more for your batteries, around 3.5 times more. We also did the same with solar panels.
