The UK may not seem like the best place for solar and today illustrates why with deep cloud cover and rain, but the uptake in solar is spreading and July 2024 hit an all time high for solar production.
July 2023 to Juy 2024 added 1.2GW of solar. The first part of the 2024 added 717MW and 648MW there after. Domestic installations accounting for 70% of solar power generation in the UK.
The government is still lagging behind with larger solar farm installations processes causing massive delays as this is slowing the impact of solar generation. It is clear that most homes in the UK are installing there own solar power, and previously we reported that around 1.7GW were unregistered DIY installations which the government does not account for in the reports.
Solar and the cost of living crisis.
It may not occur to many people that there is a crisis for the cost of living, but having been on holiday this year and noticing a massive 30% difference in costs across the UK. As we are generally all chicken eaters, the cost stood out the most to me with the west being £4 and the south east being £6.
What was a little odd that there was a item (£2) that contained West 12 east 8. now this starts to appear odd when you account to why this would occur. But that info is now for your digestion as it is in my view unnatural.
Turning back to solar, as the price has dropped and we are doing the rounds on the website to refresh the prices to show the new reductions; most people will now know someone with solar and they have hit a interest for many who ask, How much do you pay for electric? and they reply nothing.
Power in homes can rack up near £200 per month and saving money here can really hit home for many people. We reported that around 60% saving can be seen from the small solar installations, and now our 800W micro solar system just hit less than £400.00.
With small affordable solar installations being much more affordable people are wanting to save money and making solar investments and this is why we are seeing such a large domestic uptake in solar.
