Next Project – Solar Panel Data

If you have solar you are probably aware that installation is everything when it comes to the entire performance of your solar energy system. For many small installations or mixed array installations the best alignment and even problems need to be known fast and of course you will want to monitor your installation.

Most monitors are from the whole array and will tell you the over all power from the set of solar panels.
To add to the frustrations, the system may be down or has a long 5 minutes update delay. This poses a problem with bigger number of solar panels.

Our Solar Panel Alignment Tool

The panel alignment tool (SPAT) was designed to clip over the solar panel and give you readings on your X and Y angles relative to the sun so that you could plan the solar installation and timing for peak rates power. This helps the installation to be great.

Our Solar Panel Data device (SPD) is a online live monitor that looks at the panel voltage and current so that you can see what is happening per panel. They do not optimize the solar panels, but what they do is keep you informed.
Shading – Voltage – Amps – Watts – DefectsPerformance

We build a lot of tech for solar, this can be smart monitors, inverter decoders, battery and BMS’s, Auto start and diverters as well as chargers and controllers. And with solar There is a lot that you can build to make installation easier or monitoring easier. This can mean integration, such as MQQT or HA so that you can see your data and use it, maybe run some automations or a diverter, the list is endless.

How do they work?
Install on to the panels MC4 connections.
Log in for live data. enter you MQQT details.
The initial idea is for per panel, I am considering a small string monitor too but this defeats the objective.
(Note we already have a 2S 4P monitor available but this is not a smart device).

All our systems for solar are local, we do not charge or offer cloud services and you can be off grid and do not need to have a internet connection for these to work. You will need your own wireless router as the cost would jump if we built the system as a fully independent stand alone with everything you would need. – We can do this on request.

How do I get a Solar panel monitor?
We are going to do this as a project, meaning that if you love DIY and tinkering you will be able to buy the kit from the shop and put it together yourself, it wont be hard to make.
You could buy a ready made unit from the shop if you do not want the fun or making one yourself, or if you do not have the tools or dexterity to make one.
The software and diagram is a separate down load, so you will need to have both for the project to work if you are making one yourself.
