Solar power is one of these things that people have started looking into and we have been around a while and looked into these a lot. What is the best value solar kit for 2025? what makes a solar installation good, and why should I get solar? All good questions but something work and some do not.
Solar power works, you convert sun light into electricity and it provides power to your home or reduces the cost of power from the grid. We get asked many many times how does that work? and the simple answer is think of current (amps), they are injected into your power wires and pushed to the things that you are using. What power your making from solar, or the limit of the inverter is what you can save and the rest is from the grid as the systems work in parallel together.
Grid tied is simple but not the best.
Cost wise Grid tied solar is the lower cost option for solar, but its far from ideal.
being Grid tied is a solar system that is not hybrid, which means has a battery for the most part, but you will find you can make power when you don’t really need it, so having a battery stores that power for later use. so Grid tied is only a saving for what you use. much of the power excess will go back to the grid. but you can be paid for that known as Export payments or SEG.

As you may see the solar system is fairly small at 2kw as we think that you should not have too much solar as the grid profits from most of the installs and they make billions in profit per year, so you would want to power what you are using and little extra.
Having a system that really works for you, would be a hybrid, but your price point will jump around £2000+ for that option. You can always argue that grid tied is green energy to others whom use your export to make that right with yourself, but you will want to upgrade soon enough.
Now the kit….
At 2kW this is generally enough power to meet most homes peak use, for example the kettle, a cooker, hover and tv and routers, but not all at the same time, but if you could have free power for 6 hours of the day, then you could save money and time things to make solar work for you.
This often means looking at your white good to set timers to make the most of the power available thus saving you money. it is very likely that for most of the year the standard home power use is fully met by solar power when your out at work, and even if you work at home you should make a good dent in the bill.

The Solar panels.
We did select bi facial panels for a good reason. they cost no more than single sided panels for one, but they also uplift power output. You don’t have to put them in a special place or way for them to work, a bit of a gap is a good idea.. but they will provide a little more power than they are rated, which is why we went for 500w as it is a 2kw inverter, so makes sense to fit that amount of panels given that there is a little bit over power too. but you could add more panels if you would like to and we would recommend higher voltage.
We kit the panels to be ran as a single line of 4 panels with the hooks rails and flashing needed to make a complete installation of the solar panels down to the PV isolator switch. We included the cable, so make sure that that is enough, just give us a shout for more in the order.
The hooks are plain tile, so you should check they are right for your roof.
The solar panel array installation space will be 460cm wide and 120cm tall (plus 30 per end).
If you cannot fit the width, then you may need to change the order for a 2×2 installation. just contact us to pay the difference.
METRIC
We think that the installation would be just over 3000kwh per year, meaning that at the current price of power you would pay for this kit in one year.
