Victron Solar kit

Thinking of getting solar for the home or man cave? Victron is a popular brand and has a lot of media coverage, so its probably one of the top choices on your list. We offer a kit installed in our shop, but lets have a look at what the offer is about.

For the cost, the package is pretty good coming in under £3000, but this does not include everything, due to the installation types we did not include solar mounting systems so that you can put the panels where you want and we do not have a system included that doesn’t work for you.
One of the bugs for me is that Victron has a separate charge controller and they are not what I would consider great value, for the price of a charge controller, you can buy a AIO. but none the less im sure you are aware of all this before you came shopping.

The Victron inverter in the package is small at 3kw, but you can upgrade this package, with a 5kw inverter, you can also upgrade the solar to double the package size (3.6kw+) both upgrades come in under £1000 so not too bad in the bigger picture.

We did not include the battery rack system, you can use just about any server rack enclosure and we left this to you to supply as you may have big ideas when it comes to the battery system. We included 2 of our 5.1kWh batteries to start you off with 10kWh of battery storage, the solar array is about enough to fully charge the battery in a day in summer so not a big issue with that match. But for some I can see the additional solar, which doubles the power will be a popular choice with clients to have excess power and better winter charging. But this depends on how much you intend to use your system.

For those with this kit in home, then it is likely that you will want to add batteries to cope with the larger loads of home life, in this case, you will probably want to upgrade the inverter to meet more of your loads?

If you were to upgrade, paying £4,000 or there about, then the power derived from the system would be the equivalent to 16,000 kwh of grid power. the system would make 5,148kwh a year meaning that it could pay for itself within 3.1 years. that’s about £1,184 per year. Don’t forget we haven’t included all the costs here in this ROI.
You should be looking at a return just shy of £13,800 over the lifetime.

Victron comes with a wide range of additions and you may want to pick out what you want and need from the wider list of hardware available. You can have this installed at the time of the installation.
