The Hoymiles HMS-800W-2T is a microinverter designed for small solar power systems, typically used in balcony solar installations in Europe and is approved here in the UK. Here’s a breakdown of its key features:
- Power Output: 800 watts
- Input: Can be connected to 2 solar panels
- MPPTs: Includes 2 Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPT) to optimize energy production from each connected solar panel.
- Monitoring: Built-in Wi-Fi allows for real-time monitoring of power production through a smartphone app or the Hoymiles S-Miles Cloud platform.
- Installation: Considered easy to install with a user-friendly plug-and-play cable and no complex wiring required.
- Safety: Complies with rapid shutdown safety standards and has an isolated transformer for added safety.
- Durability: Industrial-grade Wi-Fi module and IP67 enclosure for weather resistance.
- Warranty: Typically comes with a 12-year standard warranty.
Overall, the Hoymiles HMS-800W-2T seems like a good option for those looking for a microinverter for a small balcony solar system. It offers easy installation, remote monitoring, and a decent power output.
They do make a cost effective alternative to larger installations of grid tied solar.

ENA – HOYMZ/12359/V1/A1
Same as HOYMZ/03493/V1 but with wifi built in ( so you do not have the buy the DTI separately)..
Note: While these are “plug in solar” in Europe, under BS7671 they should not be attached via a plug and socket. Professional installation read more on BS77671 here.
You would need to check the circuit type, then add protection and make any alternations to “make safe”, or you would need a new circuit and a dedicated “socket” from the consumer unit, this is notifiable work.
