Plug in solar.

Plug in solar is one of the hot topics for DIY solar, in fact how to attach solar legally in the UK is some-what defined; however there are others like plug in solar (co.uk) whom have looked at getting around the costly problem of connection and solar installation costs.

I have taken this to the forum as its a “hot topic” and in the first two post I have summarized the issues to read though to get an idea of what the issues actually are.
Basically without all the fluff, it is how to protect the circuit, and what to do with a dual sources.
This dual source problem is not actually that common and more an industrial application, which is why electricians have so many issues with it.

How to connect in, is really another issue as the consumer just uses plugs as a standard way to attach items to their power at home, the plug in solar would be frowned upon as the connect “suicide cable”
as technically the plugs output pins could be live when being removed from the sockets for a nano second or ten… ( typically less than 50 milli seconds).

THE REAL QUESTION….

How can a person (lay) fit a micro solar installation such as a balcony solar in the UK easy and legally, of what steps do they need to taken to make it safe?
Most of Europe and some other parts of the world all this, the UK lags behind as usual.

The installation information (regs) set out how this is achieved, however most short cut to pre distro connection rather than having to do the rather simple math.

You can remove the plug, and replace this with a Isolator or gen port, but you still need to address the protection requirements.
