Solar panels, Voltage or Current

A lot of people who are installing solar will have a range of options which involves voltage and current. Ohms law sets out that voltage x current is Watts and we all know what watts are.

Solar panels produce a variable current depending on the SUNs “shine power” and the voltage does tend to stay the same regardless of the “shine power”. The difference this makes does depend on your own set up and hardware, but they tend to vary a lot on how much you can have of either voltage or current.

If you have carried out lots of tests and installations like RenewSolar then it comes fairly clear how to get the most from your solar installation and really how to plan your solar installation. This may include dual arrays ( two sets of solar panels).

You may have heard the term ” string inverter” which is single higher voltage set up, as in – to + and – to + adding voltage of each panel together, the + to + and – to – being parallel connections and adding to the current.
