Our First system for zero export, and zero DNO/Limitation.
At RenewSolar we are a little outside of the box as all engineers are and we are bring to you a zero export and zero DNO home solar power system. For most of you this will be in budget, and shockingly low cost.
The DNO along with the ENA control the grid and what is connected to it, which for most solar installation means that each inverter has to pass tests and be certified by the ENA to be allowed to connect to the DNO network. The main reason for this is money… I mean safety the costs are passed to the customer and therefore solar can be really expensive.
This is but one part, the other part is the DNO. As your “run of the mill” solar installation works in parallel with the grid (import and export) the DNO can put limits on the export. The billions made in profits did not go into upgrading and improving the grid and its infrastructure, so the result is old, worn out and not capable of dealing with high power from various sources. Not to tar everywhere, there are some upgrades in some places.
Having solar… lets change that and say having your own source of energy which you make for your home and is not subject to bills and taxes is a win for the few and it is possible in the UK. but it must be able to work for you. by limiting export and limiting inverter size, you may not make the most of what solar you have. Our plan is to laugh at the problems and well make our own.
We are going to hash out the popular, the useful and the budgets on the systems, as most loyal customers are very specific with what they want and we have different types too, so there is the off grid, and the self contained and the money savers, and there are the tinkerers too.
The Pick
11kw inverter.
4.5kw Solar array.
Mounting system.
16kWh LFP Battery.
Bits
Installation labour.
£2,500
The pick is ideally suited for home which use around 12kWh a day.
Some rough Math puts the system winter power bill at less than £2. (£187.56 per year)
Energy conversion £1,868.80+
Estimated maximum output 36,000W per day (£11.52)
ROI -1.4 years.
The price, yes, nothing hidden here, that’s really the ball park for the system hardware. there may be a few bits Ive missed, but it will not be much at all. There is some variance to installation hardware which will make some difference..
- Will this run my home?
Yes, but ensure that the load and peaks is within the inverter power limit. - Where do you install?
We limit ourselves to one hour from our location. - How long is installation?
Should not take longer than 2 days. - Is there a warranty?
Yes 1 year for the inverter 5 years on battery. - Can this charge from the grid?
Yes - Can this be used for off grid installation?
Yes - Why is the price so low?
RenewSolar is a Not for profit, and we are super. - Does this have grid pass through?
Yes, 47amps - How long will my system take to be installed?
From order to installation will be around 4-6 weeks depending on demand and bookings. - Can I double the power?
Yes, you can run the inverters together, up to 6 can be linked. - Why is this not ENA and DNO controlled?
They cover parallel hardware, This is an appliance, think of it as a UPS that a computer has, but for your whole home.. but it runs in solar battery before taking power from the grid. – SPU (a backwards ups) - Is this legal?
Yes.
